Fox Hollies Families

Fox Hollies Families – 2006 from Rachel Gillies on Vimeo.

Acocks Green Library spearheaded a project with parents at Severne Road and Yarnfield Schools to encourage them to play a more active role in supporting their childs’ library use. The informal approach involved developing relationships between librarians and parents, giving parents basic skills and running a library group with pupils.

The result is not only that more families are engaged with Acocks Green and the Mobile Library, the scheme has also developed a more confident community who strongly feel that their local library has an important role to play in the development of individuals, families and the wider community.

This short film captures some of the outcomes of the project and illustrates just how much of a difference the scheme has made to families.
